Large black rugs: 230–349 cm sizes: Free delivery

Large black rugs measure between 230 and 349 cm on their longest side – enough to anchor a sofa, sit under a family dining table, or ground a double or king bed. Our range includes popular large rug sizes such as 160 x 230 cm and 200 x 300 cm, plus 240 x 240 cm and 250 x 250 cm squares and round shapes from Ø 240 cm. Not sure what size to choose? Our rug size guide can help.

Choosing a large black rug

A large black rug (230 cm and up on its longest side) gives a big seating area, dining space or bedroom a defined, grounded base. Black rugs hide everyday marks and footprints better than lighter shades, so they suit busy living rooms, hallways and family dining areas. They also work as a neutral and sit easily with both pale and dark furniture. If your room is fairly light and neutral, a large black rug with some pattern or a secondary colour will usually sit more comfortably than a solid block of black.

Frequently asked questions

A large black rug measures between 230 and 349 cm on its longest side. At Rugvista, popular large black sizes include 160 x 230 cm and 200 x 300 cm, plus 240 x 240 cm and 250 x 250 cm squares. If you need something bigger, see our extra large black rugs.

Not necessarily – it depends on the room. In a light, airy space with pale walls and floors, a large black rug reads as a bold anchor rather than making the room feel cramped. In a smaller or already dark room, a big black rug with a pattern or lighter secondary colour, or a mid-tone charcoal instead of true black, will usually feel more balanced than a solid black rug.

Large black rugs generally suit medium-to-large living rooms (roughly 3 x 4 m and up), double and king-size bedrooms, and dining rooms seating four to six. Because black is a strong colour, it tends to work best when the rest of the room has some light, neutral surfaces to balance it – pale walls, light flooring, or lighter furniture.

Yes – alongside rectangular sizes, this range includes 240 x 240 cm and 250 x 250 cm squares and round shapes from Ø 240 cm, so you’re not limited to a standard rectangle if your room or furniture layout calls for something different.

Add at least 60–70 cm to each side of your table so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. A four-seat table typically works well with 160 x 230 cm, while a six-seat table suits 200 x 300 cm. A flatweave large black rug is a practical choice here, since it’s easier to clean and won’t show chair-leg marks as much as a deep pile.
