As we ship internationally, we must adhere to the size restrictions set by our carriers. To comply with these guidelines, many of our rugs are folded for shipping. These regulations help make packages more manageable for transport and reduce the risk of damage to the rug’s pile during transit.

Will the fold marks go away?

Yes, the fold marks should naturally disappear over the course of a few days to weeks. The rug’s material is designed to regain its original shape once laid out flat.

How can I remove fold marks faster?
If you would like to speed up the process, here are a few simple methods to help smooth out fold marks:

  1. Roll the Rug – Roll the rug up tightly with the pile facing inward and leave it rolled for a couple of days. This helps the rug’s warp regain its natural shape.

  2. Apply Weight – Place heavy objects, such as books, on the areas that are not lying flat. The weight will assist in pressing down the rug’s pile and warp.

  3. Use a Low-Heat Iron – If the fold marks persist, you can lightly iron the affected areas. Set the iron to the lowest heat setting and place a cold, damp kitchen towel between the rug and the iron to prevent direct heat damage. Gently press over the folds to help the fibers relax.

Following these steps should help your rug return to its original, beautiful appearance in no time!

At our warehouse, we regularly treat for moths to protect our wool rugs and unique carpets. It is crucial to periodically fumigate the storage areas where these unique carpets are kept to ensure they remain in good condition. Conducting treatments against moths in the warehouse allows us to effectively combat any pests that could threaten the quality of our carpets. This treatment also helps prevent any damage from pests and ensures that the warehouse remains a safe and clean space for storing our valuable carpets. By having a regular routine in place, we can guarantee that our carpets stay in the best possible condition.

When looking for a new rug and you have pets at home, there are several important considerations to keep in mind. Here are some good tips to help you make the right choice:

- **Material**: Opt for rugs made from durable and easy-to-clean materials like wool or synthetic and washable indoor/outdoor rugs or wool rugs. Synthetic materials are more resistant to stains and can withstand the wear and tear from pets. - **Color**: Choose a rug in a color that can help camouflage pet hair between cleanings. Neutral tones or rugs with patterns that can hide pet hair are good options. - **Size and Placement**: Select a rug size that fits the space where your pet spends most of its time. Consider placing the rug in areas where your pet likes to rest or play to provide them with a comfortable spot. - **Maintenance**: Look for rugs that are easy to maintain and clean. Rugs that can be easily vacuumed or spot cleaned are ideal for homes with pets. - **Texture**: Opt for rugs with a low pile or flatweave construction as they are easier to clean and less likely to trap pet hair compared to high-pile rugs. - **Odor Resistance**: Consider rugs that are treated with odor-resistant technology to help keep your home smelling fresh, especially in areas where your pets frequent. When choosing a rug for a pet-friendly home, it's essential to prioritize durability, ease of maintenance, and pet comfort. By considering these factors, you can find a rug that not only complements your home decor but also stands up to the demands of a pet-inclusive household. For more tips and insights on selecting pet-friendly rugs, you can visit RugVista's guide on pet-friendly rugs:

https://www.rugvista.com/inspiration/guides/pet-friendly-rugs

We hope these tips help you find the perfect rug for both you and your beloved pet, creating a harmonious living environment for all.

Gently dab the spot with a clean cotton cloth as quickly as possible - do not scrub! Always work from the edge towards the center of the stain. Use a small amount of dish soap or mild soap and lukewarm water, only if necessary. If needed, lightly brush with a clothes brush.

On our website, you can find tips on how to remove different types of stains: https://www.rugvista.com/inspiration/guides/how-to-clean-a-rug

When it comes to viscose and bamboo silk rugs, they are delicate. We recommend professional rug cleaning and regular vacuuming. If you accidentally spill something, immediately dab or wipe away the stain with a dry cloth. Do not use water or cleaning agents as the rug is sensitive to liquids.

Consider using a textile protector for viscose to protect the rug from stains.

If you want to minimize wear and tear on your rug, it is a great idea to use an anti-slip underlay. The underlay will extend the life of your rug and also contribute to increased safety because your rug will stay in place better.

Anti-slip underlays are recommended for both thin and slightly thicker rugs, but especially for woven rugs. We have two types of anti-slip under rug accessories, one in polyester and one in latex that can be washed at 30 degrees: https://www.rugvista.com/c/rug-accessories

To ensure that the rug has a long lifespan, it is important to keep it clean; dirt wears on the rug and the wear usually first appears on the fringes and long sides. Always vacuum in the direction of the pile and about once a week with a low suction volume rug attachment.

Also, keep in mind that even though a hand-knotted rug is often considered a piece of art, it is primarily made to be walked on. A hand-knotted rug is usually durable, allowing you to use it without worry. In fact, a rug that is subjected to normal wear and tear can actually become more beautiful over the years!

Here are some tips on daily maintenance and what to do when accidents happen on our website.

When it comes to maintaining the longevity of your rug, regular cleaning is key. Dirt and debris can cause premature wear and tear on the rug fibers, especially along the fringes and edges. To keep your rug looking its best, it is recommended to vacuum it regularly in the direction of the pile. Use a vacuum attachment specifically designed for rugs with a low suction volume to prevent any damage to the fibers.

While hand-knotted rugs are often seen as works of art, they are also functional pieces meant to be used. These rugs are typically durable and can withstand regular foot traffic. In fact, the beauty of a hand-knotted rug can often enhance over time as it develops a patina and character with use.

For more detailed advice on daily care and how to handle accidents, visit our website where we provide comprehensive guidance on rug maintenance. By following these tips, you can ensure that your rug remains in top condition for years to come.

When deciding on a color for your carpet, it's important to consider its role in the room. Do you want it to be the main focus and add character, or do you prefer it to blend in with the rest of the decor? If you want the carpet to be a standout feature, consider selecting a contrasting color. However, if you want a more balanced look, avoid excessive contrasts and aim for a cohesive design.

Updated 2 years ago

When placing your sofa, consider allowing its front legs to rest comfortably on a slightly larger carpet that extends beyond its length. This will create a cohesive look when paired with armchairs that also sit atop the carpet, framing your furniture beautifully. Experiment with different sizes and lay out a floor covering to find the perfect fit for your living room. Don't settle for a smaller rug that would detract from the overall aesthetic – aim for a larger option that will elevate your space.

Here is some good tips when choosing a rug in any room:

https://www.rugvista.com/inspiration/tips/how-to-choose-a-rug

Updated a year ago

A rug under a dining table should be large enough that not only the dining table, but also the chairs, have plenty of room, about 50-70 cm extra to pull out the chairs. The chairs must be able to be pulled out without tearing the long side of the carpet.

If the rug is large enough, the entire furniture is highlighted better. A rug that is too small can make the entire room feel cramped and smaller.

Carpets made of synthetic materials such as polyester and polypropylene or wool carpets fit well under a dining table as they are dirt-repellent and easy to clean if you accidentally spill. However, it is easier to clean a carpet with a short pile than a long one and it is easier to pull out the chairs.

Avoid viscose and bamboo silk under the dining table.

We recommend a non-slip pad under the carpet to protect both the floor and the carpet from wear and tear, especially woven wool rugs.

When it comes to selecting the ideal carpet for your space, it's important to consider more than just personal preference. The size of the carpet plays a crucial role in achieving the desired aesthetic and functionality. To determine the appropriate size, take some time to assess the room's dimensions and overall impression.

One common mistake is choosing a carpet that is too small for the room. This can throw off the proportions and make the furniture appear oversized and awkward. On the other hand, opting for a larger rug can create a beautiful frame for the room and establish a more harmonious overall feel.

It's worth noting that the placement of the rug can also have a visual impact. For instance, laying a rug crosswise instead of lengthwise can give the illusion of transforming an oblong room into a more rectangular shape.

To help you navigate through the process of selecting the perfect rug size, we recommend referring to this comprehensive guide:

A Colored Vintage is made from hand-knotted rugs that are at least 20-50 years old. Each carpet is carefully selected and goes through a unique process where the pile is shaved and the colors are neutralized before the mat becomes colored in a new exciting color. The result is a blend of traditional carpet design and a contemporary retro style in a sustainable way.

A Colored Vintage mat can over time lose parts of the original characteristic color impression, which will further enhance the mat's unique features. Due to this fact, we advise that you protect the floor by using an anti-slip underlay underneath the carpet.

Please note that these rugs have a deliberately worn appearance.

A Patchwork carpet is made from older Turkish rugs, which are cut into smaller pieces and sewn together in new designs and sizes. The colors and patterns match and are specially selected. The majority has a sewn back.

Patchwork is made from rugs that are between 20 and 50 years old. The result is a blend of traditional Turkish rug design and a contemporary retro style.

No. The stipulated dimensions do not include the fringes. The length is related strictly to the rug itself.

Yes, the rugs we provide are designed to be compatible with floors that have underfloor heating. However, it is important to ensure that the heating is operated within normal temperature ranges to avoid any damage to the rug.

It is worth noting that while most of our bathroom mats are suitable for underfloor heating, there are some exceptions. This is typically due to the backing material used in those specific mats. To provide clarity, we include information about the compatibility with underfloor heating in the product specifications on our website. So, if a bathroom mat is not suitable for underfloor heating, it will be clearly mentioned in the product description.

Our newly produced carpets are classified as 0-20 years. If a carpet is not newly produced, there is a good chance that they have had a previous owner, however, the carpets are all cleaned and inspected for any defects before we put them on the website.

0-20 years
The carpet has been manufactured within those years. It is new and has never been used. It is very difficult to say the exact time when a carpet was knotted, but you can expect that it was likely within the last 5 years.

20-50 years
The carpets may have been used at some point in time, or simply could have been in storage. Some carpet sellers store their carpets for some time with the hope that they may increase in value. Some of these carpets classified in this group are carpets that are becoming rare and hard to come by.

50-100 years
If a carpet is marked as being between 50-100 years, this means they are semi-antique. These are considered to be very valuable as they have the semi-antique mark, and also consists of rare carpets.

Antique
These are carpets classified as being over 100 years old.

The care instructions for the carpet will vary depending on the material. However, we always recommend that you turn to a professional carpet cleaner in your area to do the job. We do not recommend that you attempt to wash the carpet yourself.

General care instructions are sent digitally with your order, please see the document attached in your shipping confirmation.

If you handle your carpet properly, you will not need to take it to a carpet cleaner very often. Read more about carpet care, maintenance, and stain removal here:

Yes. It is very common for carpets to shed during the first few weeks, especially in high traffic areas, making it easy to spot small fibers. Do not worry – loose and excess fibers from the rug are characteristics of the material used.
