The origin of Ziegler rugs
Ziegler rugs origins trace their roots back to the late 1800s, when the Anglo-Swiss company Ziegler & Co. established weaving workshops in the Middle East. Their aim was to produce rugs inspired by traditional designs, adapted to suit European tastes with softer colours and more spacious patterns.
Today, many Ziegler rugs are hand-knotted in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where skilled artisans continue to use time-honoured techniques, natural wool, and vegetable dyes. The result is a rug that preserves authentic-inspired elegance while offering durability suited to modern living.

How to care for your Ziegler rug
- Hoover regularly using low suction and avoid using a beater bar.
- Avoid excess moisture which can weaken wool fibres and affect the structure.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth and avoid rubbing.
- Use wool-safe cleaning products when necessary.
- Avoid aggressive scrubbing that may damage the pile.
- Arrange professional cleaning periodically to help the rug’s finish and quality.
