Originating from a region with a storied history of textile production, this rug is more than just a floor covering. It is an investment in authenticity and a testament to the skill required to translate complex, traditional patterns into a durable and functional piece for your home.

Zanjan rugs originate from the city of the same name in the northwestern part of the Middle East. This region has long been a crossroads of culture and trade, which is reflected in the diverse influences found in its weaving traditions. These rugs are known for their sturdy construction and their ability to blend rustic charm with sophisticated design.

The term hand-knotted refers to the traditional method of looping individual strands of Wool around the foundation threads. This technique is essential for the durability and longevity of the rug, as it creates a dense pile that is resistant to wear and tear. For the owner, this means a rug that retains its structural integrity and aesthetic clarity over many years of use.

Signature design elements of Zanjan rugs often include bold, geometric medallions and stylised floral or animal motifs. The colour palette typically leans toward deep, earthy reds and dark tones, which are derived from traditional dyeing techniques. This particular piece features a striking balance between its central motifs and the elaborate border, a hallmark of the regional style.

Owning a Zanjan rug is an opportunity to connect with a rich cultural heritage. These pieces are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the human skill they represent. By choosing this rug, you are preserving a craft tradition that has been passed down through generations, ensuring that this unique form of artistic expression continues to thrive.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and patience from the artisan. By tying each individual knot by hand, the maker ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved through any other method.

With a weight of 14.6 kg, this rug reflects the substantial amount of high-quality material invested in its creation. This density is a direct result of the effort involved in packing the knots tightly, which contributes to the rug's durability and its ability to withstand the rigours of daily use.

The production of a piece this size is a significant undertaking, involving weeks of dedicated work. This investment of time and human effort is reflected in the sharpness of the design and the long-term resilience of the pile, offering you a product that is built to endure.
