The Zanjan region in the Middle East is renowned for a long-standing tradition of rug weaving that reflects the resilience and artistry of its people. Historically, these rugs have served as functional necessities for nomadic and village life, evolving over centuries into the highly sought-after decorative pieces we admire today.

Technical mastery is at the heart of the Zanjan tradition. The construction often involves a sturdy foundation that supports a dense pile, a design choice made to ensure these rugs could withstand the rigors of traditional floor use while retaining their vibrant appearance for decades.

Visually, Zanjan rugs are celebrated for their geometric rigour and bold, symbolic motifs. You will often find central medallions flanked by repeating patterns that represent local cultural narratives, all framed by intricate borders that tie the composition together with balanced symmetry.

Collectors value these rugs not only for their beauty but for the cultural heritage they preserve. Owning a Zanjan rug is an investment in a living history, representing a bridge between ancient techniques and the modern home, where the skill of the weaver remains visible in every thread.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have dedicated countless hours to its creation. By tying each individual knot by hand, the weavers ensure a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that creates a dense, resilient pile capable of lasting for generations.

With a total weight of 16.2 kg, this rug demonstrates the sheer volume of high-quality material woven into its foundation. This weight is a direct indicator of the density and laborious effort invested in its construction, ensuring that the rug remains stable, firm, and exceptionally durable under foot.

The process of creating a rug of this size and density is a significant undertaking that requires deep technical knowledge and physical patience. The result is a finished piece where the density of the knots contributes to both the sharpness of the intricate geometric designs and the long-term performance of the wool pile.
