Tabriz rugs originate from one of the oldest rug-weaving centres in the Middle East, a city that has served as a cultural crossroads for centuries. Located in a region with a deep-rooted history of textile artistry, Tabriz has long been celebrated for its ability to synthesise diverse design influences, resulting in some of the most technically advanced and visually complex rugs in the world.

The craftsmanship found in these rugs is defined by a dedication to detail, often involving complex knotting techniques that allow for highly intricate patterns. This precision is not merely for aesthetics, as the high density of the knots contributes to a robust and long-lasting pile that retains its appearance and integrity over generations of use.

The design language of a traditional Tabriz rug is often characterised by sophisticated floral arrangements, sweeping vines, and ornate central medallions. These patterns are typically framed by elaborate borders, creating a balanced and harmonious composition that draws the eye and invites closer inspection of the fine details woven into the wool.

Collecting a rug from this heritage is an investment in a living tradition of skill and cultural expression. These pieces are highly valued not only for their beauty but for the human effort and historical continuity they represent, making them prized possessions for those who appreciate the intersection of artistry and functional design.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused labour to bring each piece to life. This traditional technique ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved by machines.

The process begins by securing a sturdy cotton foundation, upon which thousands of individual wool knots are carefully tied by hand. This labour-intensive method results in a dense, durable pile that maintains its beauty and structural shape even after years of regular use.

With a total weight of 35.1 kg across its generous surface area, the rug demonstrates the significant amount of premium material used in its creation. This density is the mark of genuine craft, ensuring that the rug remains a resilient and high-quality addition to your home.
