Tabriz rugs hail from one of the oldest carpet-weaving centres in the Middle East. Located in the northwestern part of the region, the city of Tabriz has been a vital hub for trade and artistry for centuries. The tradition here is defined by a commitment to perfection and the ability to adapt to changing artistic trends while maintaining deep-rooted techniques.

The term '60 Raj' refers to a specific system of measurement used to denote the fineness of the knotting. It indicates a very high number of knots per linear unit, which is a hallmark of the finest quality rugs produced in this region. This level of complexity allows for the fluid, curvilinear patterns and the delicate shading that distinguish these rugs from simpler, coarser weaves.

Visually, these rugs are often characterised by a central medallion surrounded by a lush field of floral arabesques, palmettes, and vines. The borders are typically as complex as the centre, creating a balanced and harmonious composition. While traditional colour palettes often feature deep reds and warm creams, each piece is an individual expression of the artisan's vision and the specific workshop's style.

Collectors and design enthusiasts alike value these rugs for their endurance and the incredible human effort they represent. Owning a piece from this tradition is not just about floor decor; it is about preserving a cultural heritage that has been refined over hundreds of years. These rugs are respected for their ability to age gracefully, often becoming more beautiful with time.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense patience and precision. Skilled artisans spend months dedicated to the creation of a single piece, ensuring that every knot is placed with exactitude to achieve the final, intricate pattern.

The construction of this rug features approximately 1,450,000 hand-tied knots across its total surface. This high knot density is the primary reason for the rug's durability and the sharpness of its floral details. By investing in such a high level of craftsmanship, you are ensuring that your rug remains a resilient and beautiful part of your home for generations.
