Tabriz 50 RajHand KnottedRug

Green / Beige97 x 150 cm

Tabriz rugs hail from the historic city of Tabriz in Persia, one of the oldest weaving centres in the region. Situated along ancient trade routes, this city developed a sophisticated design vocabulary that combines classical floral motifs with exceptional technical mastery.

The designation 50 Raj refers to a traditional unit of measurement indicating the fineness of the weave, counting the number of knot pairs within a specific width. This high raj count requires extraordinary skill, resulting in a tighter foundation and a refined, lasting pile.

Characterised by a central medallion framed by intricate floral borders and organic details, this tradition draws heavily on classical garden layouts. The interplay of soft green and complementary tones creates a balanced, harmonious look that anchors traditional and eclectic interiors alike.

Owning a genuine Tabriz rug means welcoming a piece of centuries-old craft heritage into your daily life. It represents a tradition where patience, skill, and cultural artistry come together to create floor coverings of lasting value.

This hand-knotted Tabriz 50 Raj rug represents months of meticulous work by skilled artisans. Each of the approximately 712,000 individual knots is tied by hand with steady precision, demonstrating a level of human dedication that machines simply cannot replicate.

Weighing 6.5 kg, the dense construction reflects the generous amount of natural wool and labour invested into the foundation. This careful hand-knotting process guarantees not only a remarkably sharp and intricate floral medallion design, but also a durable structure that withstands everyday living.
