Hailing from the renowned weaving traditions of the Middle East, this rug is built to last. The quality of its construction means it will remain a cherished part of your home for generations, ageing gracefully while continuing to provide both beauty and practical comfort.

Tabriz rugs are among the most esteemed creations from the Middle East, originating from the historic city of Tabriz. This region has been a vibrant centre for textile arts for centuries, serving as a vital hub along the ancient trade routes where artistic influences from across the continent converged.

The term 50 Raj refers to the traditional measurement of knot density, indicating a specific number of knots per 7 cm of warp. This system is a hallmark of quality control in the region, ensuring that only the most skilled weavers produce pieces that meet the required standard for detail and durability.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their sophisticated floral motifs and balanced compositions. They often feature central medallions surrounded by flowing vines and blossoms, a design language that reflects the rich garden traditions of the area. The colour palettes are typically harmonious, designed to complement both traditional and refined living spaces.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage. Collectors value these rugs not only for their beauty but for the mastery required to execute such complex designs. Every knot is a testament to a long-standing craft tradition, making each piece a meaningful addition to any collection.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to bring the design to life. The process involves tying thousands of individual knots, a labour-intensive method that creates a robust and durable foundation.

With a density of 490,000 knots per m2, the rug showcases an impressive level of precision. This high knot count is the primary indicator of its superior quality, ensuring that the pile is dense, the patterns are crisp, and the rug is capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic while retaining its original shape.

The substantial weight of 2.6 kg for this 120 x 72 cm rug further highlights the density of the Wool and the quality of the materials used. This weight is a direct result of the high-density construction, demonstrating the significant human effort and material investment required to create such a durable piece.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
