Black / Brown188 x 270 cm

Tabriz rugs originate from the historic city of Tabriz, located in the northwestern part of the Middle East. As one of the oldest rug-weaving centres in the world, Tabriz has long been a hub of artistic innovation, known for its ability to synthesise diverse cultural influences into a cohesive and recognisable style that has been celebrated for centuries.

The designation '40 Raj' refers to a specific technical standard of knot density, serving as a measure of the rug's quality and fineness. This system ensures a high level of detail in the design, allowing weavers to create intricate curves and complex floral motifs that remain sharp and clear even after years of use.

Signature design elements of the Tabriz tradition often include elaborate floral patterns, central medallions, and highly detailed borders that frame the field. The use of deep, rich colours is a hallmark of the style, creating a sense of opulence and depth that draws the eye and anchors a room's design.

Collecting a Tabriz rug is a testament to an appreciation for heritage and refined craft. These pieces are valued for their cultural significance and the dedication required to produce them, making them a meaningful addition to any home that values lasting quality and historical narrative.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and dedication. With an impressive weight of 20.8 kg, the rug features a dense, substantial foundation that reflects the high volume of material used and the significant time invested by the artisan.

The precision of the hand-knotting process is evident in the clarity of the floral patterns and the overall stability of the rug. This labour-intensive technique ensures that every strand is securely placed, resulting in a floor covering that is built to endure generations of use.

By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a traditional craft that values quality over speed. The weight and density are clear indicators of the effort applied, providing a sturdy and luxurious feel that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.
