SennehHand KnottedRug

Black / Brown76 x 110 cm

The Senneh rug takes its name from the city of Sanandaj in the Middle East, a region with a deep-rooted tradition of weaving that spans centuries. These rugs are renowned for their refined aesthetic and technical precision, often serving as a hallmark of the sophisticated craft traditions found within this mountainous area.

Senneh rugs are particularly famous for their use of the asymmetrical knot, which allows for the creation of incredibly detailed and fluid patterns. This technical choice is what gives the rugs their distinctive, fine-grained appearance, ensuring that the intricate motifs remain sharp and clear even after years of use.

The design of this piece is defined by its classic medallion, a central motif that serves as the heart of the composition. Surrounding this are ornate, repeating floral patterns that flow across the field, framed by a decorative border that provides a sense of balance and structure to the overall visual language.

Collecting a Senneh rug is an opportunity to own a piece of cultural heritage. These rugs are highly valued not only for their beauty but for the immense skill required to produce them, making them a meaningful addition to any home that appreciates the intersection of traditional artistry and lasting quality.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. By tying each individual knot by hand, the artisan ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that machines cannot replicate, resulting in a durable piece designed to last for years.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, this rug represents a significant investment of time and human effort. Creating a piece of this size and complexity involves weeks of dedicated work, with every knot contributing to the sharpness of the design and the density of the pile.

The quality of this construction is further evidenced by its weight of 3.3 kg, which reflects the generous amount of high-quality wool used to create its dense, long-lasting surface. This combination of high knot density and material weight ensures a robust, high-performing rug that maintains its beauty through daily use.
