Because this rug is a one-of-a-kind creation, you are acquiring a piece that is truly unique. No two rugs are identical, meaning that the specific arrangement of motifs and the subtle variations in colour tone found in this piece will never be replicated, making it a special addition to your home.

With its generous dimensions, this rug is ideal for anchoring a seating area or defining a larger living space. Its durability and timeless aesthetic ensure that it remains a cherished part of your home for years, gaining character as it ages gracefully.

Senneh rugs originate from the Sanandaj region in the Middle Eastern highlands, an area with a deep-rooted history of textile artistry. Traditionally crafted by the Kurdish people, these rugs are celebrated for their refined elegance and the specific cultural identity woven into every thread, reflecting the heritage of a region known for its mountainous landscapes and nomadic influences.

The term Senneh refers to both the origin and a specific technical approach to weaving. These rugs are famously known for their unique single-weft construction, which allows for a finer, more flexible foundation. This technical choice is what grants the finished rug its characteristic suppleness and allows for the incredibly precise, delicate patterns that the style is famous for.

Visually, Senneh rugs are defined by their sophisticated use of repeating motifs, often centred around a striking medallion or a field covered in delicate floral and geometric patterns. The borders are typically intricate, framing the central field with a rhythmic harmony that showcases the weaver's eye for detail and balance.

Collecting a Senneh rug is more than just purchasing a floor covering; it is an investment in a long-standing tradition of skill and artistry. These pieces are highly valued by enthusiasts for their blend of durability and aesthetic complexity, serving as a testament to the cultural pride and enduring craft of their creators.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused work to ensure every detail is perfect. The process is a labour-intensive tradition that results in a dense and resilient pile, providing the structural integrity needed for a lifetime of regular use.

The construction quality is further highlighted by its impressive weight of 30.3 kg, which signals a significant amount of high-quality Wool used in the weaving. This density is a direct indicator of the time and human effort invested in the piece, ensuring a sturdy, substantial feel that thinner, mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
