PatchworkHand KnottedRug

Dark yellow / Black170 x 200 cm

Patchwork rugs represent a creative evolution in Middle Eastern textile traditions, where the practice of recycling and repurposing has long been a part of cultural life. By taking segments from older, worn rugs and expertly reassembling them, weavers have found a way to honour the artistry of previous generations while creating something entirely new for the modern home.

The process relies on a deep understanding of textile durability and design. Artisans look for segments that possess the right structural integrity, ensuring that the final product is not only visually striking but also robust enough for modern use. The result is a piece that bridges the gap between ancient weaving techniques and contemporary interior design.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their complex, multi-textured surfaces. Because they are composed of different fragments, they often display a variety of motifs and faded colour profiles that would be impossible to achieve in a single, newly woven piece. This creates a rich, layered aesthetic that draws the eye and anchors a room.

Owning a patchwork rug is a commitment to sustainable beauty and historical preservation. By choosing a piece that gives new life to traditional wool components, you are securing a work of art that carries the soul of its origin region, ensuring that the legacy of skilled hand-craftsmanship continues to be celebrated in your home.

This rug is constructed by hand through a meticulous process of selecting and joining individual wool fragments. Artisans carefully arrange these pieces to ensure visual balance before securing them onto a sturdy cotton foundation, a technique that requires a keen eye for colour and pattern harmony.

With a weight of 11.9 kg, this rug demonstrates a high density of material that speaks to its premium build. The substantial weight ensures the rug lies flat and remains stable, reflecting the significant time and effort invested in its assembly to ensure it withstands daily use for years to come.
