Brown / Black220 x 330 cm

Najafabad rugs originate from a city located in the Isfahan province of the Middle East, a region with a deep-rooted history in textile arts. The city has long been recognised for its production of high-quality, durable rugs that often draw inspiration from the famous carpet-weaving traditions of its neighbouring city, Isfahan.

The term Najafabad is synonymous with a specific style of construction that favours robustness and longevity. These rugs are typically known for their strong foundations, which allow them to retain their shape and beauty even after years of use in high-traffic areas of the home.

Visually, these pieces are celebrated for their elaborate floral patterns, often featuring a central medallion surrounded by dense, flowing vines and blossoms. The colour palettes are traditionally balanced, using a harmonious blend of earthy tones that create a sense of cohesion and calm, making them versatile additions to various interior styles.

Collectors and enthusiasts value these rugs for their ability to bridge the gap between functional floor covering and artistic expression. Owning a piece from this tradition means connecting with a legacy of craft that prioritises both beauty and utility, ensuring that the cultural heritage of the region continues to thrive in contemporary homes.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill. By carefully tying each individual knot by hand, the artisans create a surface that is both incredibly durable and visually sharp, allowing for the complex, flowing floral designs that define this style.

With a weight of 26.9 kg across its generous surface area, this rug reflects a high density of material and significant human effort. The weight is a direct indicator of the quality and the time invested by the weaver, ensuring a sturdy foundation that is built to withstand the rigours of daily life while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.

The creation of a piece of this size and complexity involves months of dedicated work. Every row of knots contributes to the overall stability and texture of the rug, resulting in a finished product that stands as a testament to the skill involved in traditional rug-making.
