Nahavand rugs take their name from the historic city located in the Hamadan province of the Middle East. This region has long been a centre for traditional weaving, where local artisans have developed a distinct visual language that blends nomadic influences with more formal, structured designs.

The quality of a rug like this is often defined by the balance between the Wool pile and the foundation. The use of high-quality Wool, which is naturally durable and soft, allows for the creation of a pile that is both functional and beautiful. The technical skill involved in the knotting process ensures that the rug remains stable and retains its shape over decades of use.

Signature elements of this tradition include a focus on geometric and floral motifs, often organised around a central medallion. The colour palette typically features deep, earthy tones such as the rich dark-red and blue seen here, which are derived from traditional dyeing methods. These rugs are highly regarded for their ability to bring a grounded, historic feel to a room.

Owning a Nahavand rug is an investment in cultural heritage. Collectors value these pieces for their authenticity and the skill required to produce them without modern industrial aids. Each rug serves as a testament to the weaver's personal interpretation of traditional patterns, making it a meaningful addition to any home that values craftsmanship.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the artisan has invested significant time and precision into every square centimetre, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and the pile is exceptionally durable.

Given the substantial weight of 16.3 kg and the complexity of the design, this rug represents months of dedicated human labour. The density of the knots not only defines the clarity of the intricate patterns but also creates a robust foundation that is built to withstand the rigours of everyday life.

The construction reflects a commitment to traditional craft where every knot is placed by hand. This labour-intensive method results in a product that possesses a level of structural integrity and visual depth that simply cannot be achieved by mechanical means.
