The Moud rug tradition originates from the town of Moud, located in the Khorasan province of the Middle East. This region has long been celebrated for its production of high-quality floor coverings, often drawing inspiration from the rich artistic heritage of the surrounding areas while maintaining a distinct local identity.

The term 'Moud' refers to a specific regional style characterised by its harmonious balance between traditional elements and refined, often floral, aesthetic details. The craftsmanship involved in these pieces is deeply rooted in local knowledge, passed down through generations to ensure that the quality of the pile and the complexity of the weave remain consistent with historical standards.

Signature design elements of Moud rugs typically include the 'Herati' pattern or intricate floral medallions set against a field of scrolling vines. The borders are often formal and well-defined, framing the central motifs with elegance. This particular runner features a sophisticated layout that highlights these traditional patterns in a way that feels both timeless and grounded.

These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their durability and the artistic depth of their designs. Owning a Moud piece is an investment in cultural heritage, representing a level of skill that is becoming increasingly rare. It is a testament to the artisan's ability to blend utility with beauty, making it a cherished addition to any home.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and patience from the artisan. With approximately 606,000 individual knots tied by hand, the creation of this piece represents months of focused work, ensuring a level of precision and pattern clarity that simply cannot be matched by machine-made alternatives.

The 9 kg weight of the rug, combined with its 303 x 80 cm dimensions, speaks to the density of the construction. This significant material investment results in a durable, robust pile that is built to withstand years of daily use while maintaining its structural integrity.

Because each knot is placed individually, the final rug possesses a unique density and weight that contributes to its overall value. This dedication to craft ensures that every detail of the intricate pattern is sharp, clear, and long-lasting.
