Dark red / Black129 x 203 cm

The Moud rug originates from the small town of Moud in the eastern part of the Middle East. This region is famous for its long-standing tradition of weaving, which has evolved into a style known for its distinct elegance and balance, often incorporating motifs that reflect local garden designs.

The technical mastery of a Moud rug lies in its construction. The use of high-quality Wool, combined with a dense knotting technique, allows for the creation of intricate, curvilinear patterns that would be impossible to achieve in coarser weaves. This density is a hallmark of the region's output, ensuring that the rug is not only visually striking but also physically robust.

Signature design elements in Moud rugs often include a central medallion surrounded by a sea of floral motifs or the iconic 'Herati' pattern, also known as the fish pattern. These motifs are traditionally framed by elaborate, multi-layered borders that guide the eye and provide a sense of harmony to the composition.

Owning a Moud rug is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are highly valued by collectors because they represent a convergence of artistic vision and human skill. By bringing one into your home, you are participating in a living history, honouring the artisans who have preserved these techniques through generations.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to bring the design to life. The creation process involves tying each individual knot by hand, a labour-intensive technique that results in a remarkably durable and high-quality foundation.

With a knot density of 360,000 knots per m2, the rug showcases an impressive level of precision. This high count means the artisan has placed hundreds of thousands of individual knots, directly contributing to the rug's fine pattern definition and its dense, luxurious pile that stands the test of time.

The substantial weight of 9.7 kg for this specific size is a testament to the amount of premium material and human effort invested in its construction. This density ensures the rug lies flat and provides a sturdy, long-lasting surface that reflects the expertise of the weaver.
