MehrabanHand KnottedRug

Dark red / BrownRunner83 x 420 cm

The Mehraban rug is a distinguished example of the weaving traditions from the Middle Eastern region. These rugs are famously produced in the Hamadan province, where villages have developed highly recognisable styles that balance geometric structure with organic, flowing floral motifs.

Technically, these rugs are known for their sturdy construction. The use of high-quality Wool ensures that the finished product is both soft to the touch and incredibly resilient. This combination of comfort and strength is a hallmark of the regional craft, designed to serve a household for generations.

Visually, this tradition is celebrated for its intricate patterns. You will often find central floral medallions or repeating botanical motifs that cascade across the field. These designs are framed by elaborate borders that hold the composition together, reflecting a sophisticated understanding of symmetry and artistic balance.

Collectors value these rugs for their authentic connection to a long-standing cultural heritage. Owning a piece like this is more than just a decor choice; it is an investment in human skill and the preservation of traditional crafts that have been passed down through centuries.

This runner is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and precision. Skilled artisans spend weeks or even months carefully tying each individual knot to build the rug’s structure, ensuring a level of durability and density that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

With a weight of 13.9 kg, this runner demonstrates the substantial amount of Wool and effort invested in its creation. The dense construction is a direct result of this labour-intensive process, providing a robust foundation that ensures the rug will hold its shape and quality for a long time to come.
