The Lillian rugs originate from the Arak region of the Middle East, a historic hub known for producing some of the most distinctive and highly regarded floor coverings. These rugs are traditionally associated with the village weavers of the area, who developed a unique style that balances intricate geometric shapes with soft, organic floral elements.

Known for their robust foundation and high-quality Wool, these pieces were crafted to meet the needs of a demanding environment. The use of traditional weaving techniques ensures that the pile is not only soft to the touch but also incredibly durable, maintaining its lustre and colour depth over decades of use.

The signature design of a Lillian rug often features a large, bold central medallion that dominates the field, surrounded by a variety of smaller floral motifs. The borders are typically wide and complex, often echoing the patterns found in the centre, which creates a sophisticated and complete look that has been admired by collectors for generations.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an opportunity to connect with a rich heritage of Middle Eastern craftsmanship. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic beauty but also for the skill required to create them, making them a centrepiece in any home and a lasting legacy of artistic expression.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a labour-intensive process that requires immense focus and precision. Each individual knot is tied by hand, ensuring the structural integrity of the pile and the sharpness of the intricate floral patterns.

The craftsmanship is further highlighted by the density of the construction, which is achieved through months of dedicated work. Given the size and weight of 20.2 kg, this piece represents a significant investment in human skill, resulting in a robust, high-quality finish that is designed to endure for generations.

By choosing a hand-knotted rug, you are supporting a traditional craft that relies on the experience and steady hands of the weaver. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the pattern remains crisp and the pile stays dense, offering a level of quality that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.
