Kunduz - A Warm Addition to Your Home

A truly unique hand-knotted Kunduz rug from Afghanistan, featuring deep tones and traditional geometric motifs crafted from soft wool.

Crafted from wool, this rug offers a soft and dense pile underfoot that brings immediate warmth and comfort to your living space.

As a one-of-a-kind piece, this exact rug has its own distinct character. No two rugs are identical, meaning you are welcoming a truly individual work of art into your home that cannot be replaced or replicated.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan, the rug showcases a beautiful dark red field adorned with traditional diamond patterns. Its low pile height of 8 mm makes it highly practical for everyday use, fitting easily under doors and furniture.

Design

The rug features a dark red background with black and beige geometric motifs. The central field is filled with repeating diamond-shaped medallions arranged in neat rows, framed by detailed tribal borders.

Kunduz rugs originate from northern Afghanistan, a region with a long and respected history of weaving. These rugs are deeply tied to the nomadic and semi-nomadic traditions of the area, where weaving skills have been passed down through generations.

Hand-knotted rugs from this region are known for their sturdy construction and use of local wool. The wool is spun to create a resilient pile that naturally resists wear while retaining its soft texture over time.

The visual language of Kunduz rugs is defined by rich, deep red tones and repeating geometric motifs, often featuring classic gul or diamond-shaped patterns. Intricate borders frame the central field, creating a balanced and harmonious composition.

Owning a Kunduz rug means bringing a piece of Afghan weaving history into your home. These pieces are highly valued for their enduring style and the genuine cultural heritage they represent.

Hand-knotted by skilled weavers in Afghanistan, this rug represents hours of focused craftsmanship. Every single knot is tied by hand, a traditional process that ensures a level of durability and character that no machine can replicate.

Weighing 4.1 kg for its 144 x 94 cm size, the rug has a substantial and dense feel. This weight reflects the generous amount of wool used in its construction, resulting in a stable piece that sits beautifully on your floor.

Wolle
