KunduzHand KnottedRug

Black / Dark red146 x 192 cm

Kunduz rugs originate from the northern region of Afghanistan, an area renowned for its long and respected history of weaving. These rugs are deeply tied to the cultural identity of the local weavers, who have passed down their design sensibilities through generations.

The visual language of the Kunduz tradition is defined by its deep, rich colour palette and geometric order. Traditional repeating motifs, often referred to as guls, are arranged in precise rows, creating a sense of harmony and rhythm that has defined Afghan weaving for centuries.

Owning a Kunduz rug means bringing a piece of living history into your home. These contemporary pieces continue to be highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their honest craftsmanship, cultural depth, and the quiet warmth they bring to modern living spaces.

Every detail of this rug is the result of patient human effort, created using traditional hand-knotting techniques. This handmade process ensures that each knot is placed with care, creating a robust structure that machine-made alternatives cannot match.

With a substantial weight of 8.4 kg for its 192 x 146 cm size, the rug demonstrates a dense and stable construction. This weight is a direct reflection of the generous amount of natural wool used and the dense packing of the knots, ensuring the rug lies flat and secure on your floor.
