Black / Brown297 x 391 cm

The Kashmar rug tradition originates from the city of Kashmar in the northeastern part of the Middle East. This region has long been a hub for textile artistry, where weavers draw upon centuries of local history to create rugs that are celebrated for their distinctive and elaborate designs.

Kashmar rugs are often distinguished by their large, central medallions and densely packed fields. The design language is heavily inspired by classical garden motifs, often incorporating flowing vines, palmettes, and delicate blossoms that create a sense of movement and harmony across the surface of the rug.

These rugs are prized for their ability to blend formal sophistication with a warm, inviting aesthetic. The use of high-quality Wool and a firm, traditional foundation ensures that these pieces offer both visual complexity and physical durability, making them a favourite choice for those who appreciate fine craftsmanship.

Collecting a Kashmar rug is an opportunity to own a piece of regional heritage. The skill required to execute such complex patterns is passed down through generations, and each rug serves as a testament to the enduring value of manual dexterity and the deep-rooted cultural pride of the artisans who create them.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. The process involves tying each individual knot by hand, a labour-intensive technique that results in a highly durable and tightly constructed foundation.

The density of the construction is evident in the rug's weight of 58.1 kg. This significant heft is a testament to the generous amount of material used and the sheer number of hours invested, ensuring a robust piece that is built to withstand the test of time.

The precision of this hand-knotted process allows for the complex floral motifs and refined borders to be captured with clarity. This level of craftsmanship ensures that the design remains crisp and defined, reflecting the deep expertise of the weavers who bring such a grand vision to life.
