Dark red / BlackRunner78 x 291 cm

Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region in the Middle East, an area long celebrated for its prolific and diverse weaving traditions. These rugs are deeply rooted in the lifestyle of local village artisans who have passed down their knowledge through generations, creating a distinct aesthetic that bridges rustic charm and formal design.

The term 'Fine' in the name often refers to the higher-than-average knot density compared to standard village productions. This increased precision allows for more complex geometric detailing and a more refined, durable pile that stands up to daily use while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.

The signature design of a Hosseinabad typically features bold, repeating geometric patterns or stylized floral motifs that cover the central field. The borders are often framed with balanced, rhythmic designs that create a cohesive look, showcasing a mastery of colour and symmetry that is characteristic of the wider weaving culture in this part of the world.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are valued not only for their beauty but for the human skill required to create them, representing a tangible connection to a history of textile artistry that has remained a vital part of domestic life for centuries.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate weeks of focused effort to each individual piece. With a density of 160,000 knots per square metre, the construction is exceptionally robust and precise, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and the pile retains its integrity for many years.

The weight of 9.5 kg across its 2.27 m2 surface area is a testament to the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its creation. This substantial weight ensures the rug lies flat and stable, reflecting the intensive labour and traditional techniques required to produce a runner of this calibre.
