Brown / Dark red130 x 200 cm

Hamadan rugs originate from one of the oldest active weaving regions in the Middle East, encompassing a vast network of surrounding villages where weaving has been a central part of daily life for generations. Each village developed its own distinctive design variations, contributing to the incredible diversity found within this category.

The hand-knotted construction of these rugs is highly regarded for its robust structure and daily practicality. Historically woven by village artisans, these rugs were made to withstand the demands of everyday life, utilising local wool and traditional knotting techniques that ensure the pile remains dense and resilient over time.

Stylistically, Hamadan rugs are famous for their strong geometric patterns and prominent central medallions, often set against a solid field that highlights the intricate details of the borders. The decorative borders typically feature repeating floral and geometric shapes, framing the central field and creating a balanced visual harmony.

Owning a Hamadan rug connects your home to a long-standing tradition of rustic weaving art. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their honest character, durable construction, and the authentic stories woven into every row of knots, making them a meaningful addition to any interior.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled village weavers, a traditional process that requires immense patience, precision, and dedication. Every single knot is tied individually by hand to build the detailed pattern and dense pile, representing weeks of focused human effort that no machine can replicate.

Weighing a substantial 13.8 kg for its 200 x 130 cm dimensions, this rug demonstrates a highly dense and solid construction. This high ratio of material to size means that a vast amount of premium wool was carefully packed into the foundation, ensuring a heavy, stable rug that lies flat on your floor and resists shifting.

The handmade nature of this piece is visible in the slight, charming variations in its geometric shapes and colour transitions. These natural characteristics are the hallmark of authentic hand-knotted rugs, serving as physical proof of the artisan's personal touch and the genuine craftsmanship invested in the piece.
