Afghan FineHand KnottedRug

Black / Dark redRunner76 x 280 cm

Woven by weavers in northern Afghanistan, Afghan Akhche rugs carry a proud nomadic heritage shaped by centuries of migration and cultural exchange across Central Asia.

The Afghan Akhche tradition is celebrated for its robust construction, where the use of hand-spun wool and traditional washing techniques gives the pile its characteristic lustre and deep tonal variation.

This runner features the classic elephant-foot gul pattern, repeating down the field in deep red and dark tones, framed by geometric borders that define the traditional Afghan aesthetic.

Owning an Afghan runner connects your home to a living art form, where patterns are passed down through generations, making it a valued addition for collectors and homeowners alike.

This runner is hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, using traditional techniques that require patience and a high level of craftsmanship.

Weighing 6.6 kg for its 280 x 76 cm size, the substantial weight reflects the dense packing of the wool pile, which helps the runner lie flat and resist bunching over time.

Every detail is shaped entirely by human hands, ensuring that the finished piece possesses a unique character and durability that machine-made alternatives cannot replicate.
