Fire-rated rugs for commercial spaces
Discover our collection of fire-rated rugs designed for hospitality, commercial and residential interiors where safety standards matter. Ideal for hotels, offices, restaurants, and other public spaces, these rugs have undergone fire testing in accordance with recognised industry standards, including EN ISO 9239-1 and EN ISO 11925-2. Based on these tests, they’re classified according to EN 13501-1 for reaction to fire.
What are the different fire classification ratings for rugs?
Fire classification ratings indicate how materials react in the event of a fire. For textile floor coverings, such as rugs, classifications are typically expressed using the flooring-specific system (for example Bfl-s1 or Cfl-s1), where:
- “fl” indicates suitability for flooring applications
- “s1” or “s2” refers to smoke production levels
Fire classification ratings range from A to F, with A representing non-combustible materials and lower classifications indicating a greater contribution to fire:
- A1 / A2 – Non-combustible or very limited combustibility
- Bfl – Very limited contribution to fire
- Cfl – Limited contribution to fire
- Dfl – Medium contribution to fire
- Efl – Higher contribution to fire
- Ffl – No performance determined
The rugs in our assortment are generally classified within Bfl or Cfl categories, indicating a low to limited contribution to fire development and controlled smoke production. These are ideal for commercial environments where compliance with interior fire safety standards is required. Our certified rugs are available in a wide range of sizes, colours and styles suitable for both modern and traditional spaces.
