Giulia Sola
Giuli Sola was born in Italy in January of 1980. Her passion for the visual arts steered her towards an education in design, allowing her combine aesthetic tastes with technology.
As a graduate for the Politecnico di Milano en Design Industriel, Giulia has had the opportunity to study product design for one year at the Norwegian National University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
During her studies she collaborated with a design agency (Sergio Brioschi Design: furniture, lighting, accessories, etc) in Milan before joining an interior design firm (Caputo & Associati: boutiques, stands, apartments, etc) based in London and Milan.
In 2006, thanks to a grant from the European Commission, Giulia came to work in France at the school of sailing in Glénans. She specializes in naval architecture with a diploma from ENSAN of Nantes and works as an artistic director for the interior design of yachts.
After spending time in Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States, Giulia now makes her home in Nantes as a designer for her company Giulia Sola Design
Feeling Handtufted
Five carpet variations for different sensations connected to natural themes. Each carpet is inclined to a particular material: Water, Earth, Fog, Ice, Sand, the visual, but also tactile and olfactory feelings to reach an atmosphere, to recreate a landscape or a personal souvenir.

Handtufted carpets are made by hand using high quality raw materials, but rather than having knots that need to be tied, a special ”tufting gun” is used to push loops of yarn through a scrim (pre-woven backing). The last stage in the production is trimming the pile to the desired length, thereby exposing the thread ends for a softer pile.
This technique allows for a quick and effective process and gives the weaver more freedom and range to create detailed patterns and shapes otherwise restricted in handknotted carpets. The end result is a long lasting high quality carpet at an affordable price.
Durable Wool 
Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.
