Corporate Social Responsiblity
Our mission is to help people to a home they love, a mission that includes all our co-workers and suppliers. Our Code of Conduct expresses our respect for Human Rights based on the United Nation’s Global Compact and the ILO's core conventions. The simple idea behind human rights is that everyone, without any discrimination, should be treated equally and with dignity.
To ensure that our suppliers live up to our Code of Conduct, RugVista is a member of amfori BSCI, Business Social Compliance Initiative, a European initiative for responsible supply chains. CODE OF CONDUCT
We at RugVista believe it is very important the products we sell are manufactured under acceptable working conditions. We do not own or operate any factories and all products we sell are purchased from suppliers, mainly from Middle East and Asia. We strongly urge our suppliers to comply with our Code of Conduct and as there in general are increased sustainability risks (as in many low-cost countries), the work with sustainability and ethical purchasing is a very important and prioritized matter for us.
RugVista's majority owner, Litorina (www.litorina.se), is an investment company with investments in more than 40 companies. Litorina believe it is important to contribute to sustainable development by taking social and environmental responsibility, which puts high demands on all suppliers of Litorina's portfolio companies.
RugVista is member of amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), a European initiative bringing together thousands of companies around a common Code of Conduct. Their primary task is to support the network in the process of creating sustainable and ethical supply chains.
As BSCI member, we have undertaken to follow BSCI Code of Conduct.
All BSCI members cooperate to put demands and improvements on suppliers who, in turn, undertake to comply with BSCI's Code of Conduct.
As a customer, you will not find a carpet with a BSCI logo. However, all companies working with BSCI standards are committed to complying with the network's commitments.
BSCI concentrates mainly on working conditions, but the Code of Conduct also contains certain rules for water, air and chemicals. Our suppliers are expected to assess significant environmental impact of operations and establish effective policies and procedures that reflect their environmental responsibility. They will see to implement adequate measures to prevent or minimize adverse effects on the community, natural resources and the overall environment."
The BSCI Code of Conduct follows the International Labor Organization ILO’s conventions and the United Nation’s Global Compact. The Code of Conduct must be distributed at the workplace to inform workers about their rights and rules for safety and health of workers."
Part of our Code of Conduct says we will not do business with anyone using child labour. All children should be protected against economic exploitation and they should not be exposed to anything that could harm their physical, mental, moral or social development. Where young workers (older than legal working age) are employed, business partners should ensure that the kind of work is not likely to be harmful to their health or development; their working hours do not prejudice their attendance at school, their participation in vocational orientation approved by the competent authority or their capacity to benefit from training or instruction programs.
We also do not accept bonded labour. Everyone has the right to fair and clear contracts and psychological or physical compulsion or any kind of abuse or humiliation of employees is of course not allowed.
Factory audits are always carried out by accredited third parties. Deviations from the code that appear during a factory inspection will be corrected and followed up during a re-inspection. The goal is to continually improve working conditions."
EDUCATION AND FOLLOW-UP
RugVista is constantly working with follow-ups of our suppliers by regular visits. We work with continuous dialogue, education and coaching with the goal to have our suppliers independently and systematically improve the working conditions and working environment.
